Perhaps Hauptwerk is worth investigating, though. Enjoy music from early music repertoire, including Bach and lavish romantic music, or play post-modern music. The collection represents Baroque, Classical, Renaissance, Romantic and two Modern pipe organs.

That way, you can indeed add to your registration (by copying the music into a second set of staves) or eg pick out part of the tune with a solo stop on a separate staff.Īs I say, though, the score looks hilarious, and I suppose if the sound is all I'm after I'd probably be better off using a sequencing program. Garritan Classic Pipe Organs is the only library of its kind to include a choice of six historic pipe organs that encompass over four hundred years of music.
their own individual stops The stops themself sound terrific and blend well together.

This software is amazing and a big improvement over Garritan Pipe Organs. It looks as though my clumsy solution of building up combinations in Aria Player by assigning several GCPO stops to the same MIDI channel and then assigning each channel to a different instrument in Sibelius is the simplest way to achieve playback, even if the score does look as though you have access to several organs at once! Then you simply write for the appropriate organ as the equivalent of pressing a thumb piston (or using a different manual) in real life. So, few months ago I decided to just purchase the Fredonia Pipe Organ library from Impact SoundWorks and give it a try.
Thank you, gentlemen, for your fascinating and most helpful replies and links. Sibelius expects an instrument per staff essentially so you can change instruments (i.e., stops) as you go along but you can't have three or four different ones at one time as you would on an organ staff when adding to a registration.
Even then, doing something as simple as adding a stop to the current registration is a study in frustration. Skinner sound set and the special house style that goes with it in Sibelius Sounds. You can make it look like organ music but that's about it unless you use the special It is entirely and utterly more trouble than it's worth. Overall, version 5 continues the software's tradition of value and flexibility, and is a superb option for the thrifty producer looking for quality orchestral sounds in a flexible, easy-to-use package. In general trying to accurately control organ music and handle stop changes so playback is correct is a lost cause in Sibelius no matter whose organ sounds you use. The dynamic transitioning in GPO4 was already good, and the improvements to it are subtle but welcome. GPO5 is a solid if not earth-shattering update, and although the mixer could be more powerful, at this price, that's by no means a deal-breaker. What's more, with quick loading (the whole Garritan Orchestral Strings bank is a nimble 4GB), string programming feels even more achievable and fun. Throw in first and second violins and you have the sort of sonic flexibility that's often lacking in string libraries at this price point.

The biggest addition, though, is a significant chunk of the original Garritan Orchestral Strings library, comprising a vast array of sonically consistent articulations, both as individual and keyswitched patches, and ranging from solo instruments and small sections (two to six players), to much bigger ensembles and a full orchestral string section. Oh, and there's a new harp (Concert Grand), which uses MIDI controllers to mimic the pedals of the real thing. The new pipe organ, Custom Organ Console, includes 74 stops, and the choir sample set now includes a selection of Aah, Ooh, Oh and Eeh articulations across six sections (soprano, alto, tenor, bass, boys and children).Īmong the main brass instruments (trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba) are some excellent solo and ensemble marcato, staccato and sustain patches courtesy of Project SAM. Two new sets of timpani provide a bright and a more rounded option, while a set of four orchestral toms with single hit, roll and flam articulations further expand the percussion palette. Among the significant additions to the GPO5 sound library are three new Steinway pianos - a well-balanced Concert D, a mellower Concert D, and a very lively Studio B.
